Princess Pine 4-H Camp

Nestled on the shore of Lake Thomas in the chain of Pend Oreille lakes is a jewel of the 4-H program in Stevens County. Princess Pine 4-H Camp encompasses nearly 40 acres of breathtaking shoreline and timbered areas filled with wildlife. Acquired by Stevens County 4-H in the mid 1940s, the camp has a caretaker’s cabin, a main lodge with a commercial kitchen, bath facilities, sleeping cabins, and dorms in the main lodge basement.

The camp is leased to the Northeast Church Camp Board for 11 months of the year, but the prime month of July is reserved for exclusive 4-H use. During this time the Stevens County 4-H Horse Camp is held at Princess Pine to take advantage of its arena, individual horse stalls, and numerous riding trails around the scenic lakes and mountain areas. Several clubs in Stevens County make annual visits to Princess Pine every July to enjoy the beauty of the camp and expand their 4-H experiences.

Stevens County 4-H also sponsors a 4-H fishing derby at Princess Pine. Over the past five years the fishing event has grown to include partnerships with the U.S. Forest Service (Colville National Forest), Wal-Mart, Super One Foods, Hewes Marine, and the Lake Roosevelt Walleye Club. Youth enjoy a large salmon tent with stories and costumes, a hot dog roast, a casting contest, fish prints, fish ID station, fishing from the shore and dock, a bag of fishing and natural resource educational items, and time to learn about the opportunities of 4-H membership.

Princess Pine 4-H Camp is located about 25 miles east of Colville just one and a half miles off scenic State Route 20.
