Basic Pillow

 

Goal:  What will be learned by this project?

To sew straight, follow directions, and stuff a pillow.

 

Materials Needed:

grnpushpin.gif (1016 bytes) 2/3 yard firmly woven fabric
grnpushpin.gif (1016 bytes) Matching thread
grnpushpin.gif (1016 bytes) Polyester fiber stuffing
grnpushpin.gif (1016 bytes) Sewing machine
grnpushpin.gif (1016 bytes) Sewing notions, scissors, tape measure, pins, etc.
Materials for one 18" square pillow

Directions to make this project:

  1. Cut two pieces of fabric 19-1/2" X 19-1/2".
  2. With right sides together, edges even, pin pillow front to back.  Stitch three sides and four corners allowing 5/8" seam allowance.  Leave a 4" opening.   See picture.
  3. Trim corners and turn right side out.
  4. Stuff with polyester stuffing.
  5. Hand stitch the opening.
