Tribute to a Friend or Memorial

Use this form

At certain times you may wish to provide a lasting remembrance to a loved one, a deceased friend or relative, for a special occasion, or to recognize an outstanding achievement. A special way of expressing that you care can be a memorial or tribute gift to support 4-H youth. The Washington State 4-H Foundation special gift program enables you to fulfill a personal or family obligation through gifts that will help support valuable 4-H youth development activities.

Your gift to 4-H is tax deductible and the individual remembered, or family of the deceased, will be notified of your thoughtfulness. Unless otherwise instructed, the amount of your remembrance gift will not be mentioned. The 4-H Foundation will promptly send you acknowledgment of your gift.

National Travel Fund

National Travel Fund – this fund supports youth by providing travel scholarships to attend leadership and learning experiences at the regional and national level including:

In total, an average of 38 youth travel each year to national events. Many 4-H alumni not only remember these trips as fun experiences, but count them among a handful of life-changing events.

The National Travel Fund currently has no endowment and relies on annual donations to meet the needs of the many youth traveling for national leadership and learning experiences. The fund currently provides a $300 scholarship to each traveling youth member, a figure that has not increased over the last 15 years even as travel costs have increased dramatically. The average cost of a national trip is $1,000 per youth member. Your donation to this fund will help to ensure that ability to pay is never a barrier, and will provide exceptional opportunities for growth and leadership to Washington State 4-H youth.

Washington State 4-H Fair

Washington State 4-H Fair – the State 4-H Fair is the culmination of a year of experiential learning and skill development for Washington State 4-Hers. Members who have won the highest honors at local county fairs across the state compete with the “best of the best” at State 4-H Fair, which takes place during the Puyallup Fair each September. The State 4-H Fair receives an annual allocation of state funds from the Washington State Legislature, but that allocation has not increased in many years. With rising costs and more youth participating each year, the State 4-H Fair must raise an increasing amount of private funding in order to cover costs. Your gift in support of the Washington State 4-H Fair will help to ensure that our 4-H members continue to experience this capstone event.

4-H Dairy Endowment

4-H Dairy Endowment - The 4-H Dairy Endowment supports youth enrolled in the 4-H Dairy Program. One of the primary functions of the endowment is to support youth traveling to annual national dairy events including:

Approximately four to five youth members attend each of the three events annually at an average cost of $1,000 per member. The 4-H Dairy Endowment currently is able to provide travel scholarships for most of these trips, however, as travel costs have increased in recent years, the number of youth attending dairy events has been limited by the available funding. Your gift to this endowed fund will help to ensure that future 4-H dairy members continue to be supported at a high level in their national experiences.

Creating an Endowment

An endowment establishes a fund managed by the 4-H Foundation, which provides perpetual, annual support for the Washington State University Extension 4-H Program. For as little as $10,000, an endowed fund may be established to support a project, program, or purpose of your choosing. Endowments can be named in honor of the donor or for a friend or loved one. Learn more about establishing an endowment.

Matching Gifts

Many employers will match their employees' gifts to the Washington State 4-H Foundation. Some employers will even match the gifts of retired employees, spouses, parents, and even gifts from their board of directors. All matched funds will be designated to the area to which you originally contributed your fits. Contact the 4-H Foundation or your employer's Human Resources representative to learn more about matching gifts.
