Induction of the first 100 members took place during the Centennial Birthday Gala at the State 4-H Forum in Ocean Shores on October 18, 2001. Following is a short biography of each inductee by county.
Benton County
Mary Davenport started her 4-H career in 1981 as an assistant club leader for Burbank 4-H Club. There were six children in the group, and their primary project was horses. The next year she took over as main club leader. By fair time, the club had over 40 members. The next year it grew to include 65 members and five leaders. Mary has worked on the county 4-H Leaders Council, the Know Your Government Conference, the county Ambassador Program, and the State 4-H Advisory Board, on which she served for almost nine years. She has served as a State Ambassador advisor and a photography judge for both Benton-Franklin County and State 4-H Fair.
Gudren Parker was recognized for outstanding efforts in promotion of the Science Experience & Resources for Informal Education Settings and challenge programs throughout Central Washington and other 4-H activities.
Clallam County
Inez Halverson was involved in the early development and expansion of the 4-H program in Clallam County and worked in every aspect of the program for decades. It has been estimated that she reached over 1200 youth in her local club. She made significant contributions to start the international exchange program and was involved in it for many years. She still supports a fund in 4-H Leaders Council that helps with international exchanges. Inez has held every office in the county 4-H Leaders Council.
