Template for Long Term or Recurring Use of Facilities
--Pat BoyEs
In the course of your 4-H work you may encounter the need to use facilities on a recurring or long term basis. These facilities might be at fairgrounds, community centers or schools. Rather than completing a facilities use agreement every time you use a facility, you may be asked to enter into a long term use agreement. The 4-H Checklist, http://4h.wsu.edu/staff/riskmgmt.htm, has a Facilities Use (Long-Term) Template.
If the facility you are using for your 4-H activity is requesting you to sign a contract for use, attach their organizational form to this WSU form and send them to either Kevin Wright or to me for review and signature and we'll process these through WSU-Pullman Risk Management. It is my hope that this will clarify the facilities use process and make it easier for you to navigate in the ever more confusing world of risk management.
Do not hesitate to call upon Kevin or me if you have any questions.

Horse Behavior Seminar
--Pat BoyEs
Renowned Horse Behaviorist and Natural Horsemanship expert, Dr. Robert M. Miller, DVM, is coming to Pullman. He will be giving two seminars open to the public at WSU, Saturday April 28th, 2007.
“There is a revolution underway in horse training,” said Dr. Miller, an equine veterinarian. “This entirely new way of training unravels 6-thousand years of horsemanship.” Dr. Miller's key focus has been in using non-coercive methods and techniques to modify equine behavior naturally, and he was among the first to apply new techniques for training foals immediately after birth. Much of his work has been adapted by the biggest names in natural horse training today.

Youth Risk Behavior Report
--Pat BoyEs
The Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released a summary of youth risk behaviors. I thought that it would be of special interest because one of our very own Washington counties, Clark, was specifically included. I hope you will find it to be a helpful reading.
