Southeast District Shooting Sports Contest Results
--Carla Rowe
The range was “Hot!” Not only is this a term used to signal a shooter that is about to discharge a round from a firearm, but it also represented the skill and enthusiasm of the eleven participants of the first 4-H shooting sports district contest held in Dayton, Washington.
Members from the Columbia County Marksmen 4-H Club hosted the first Southeast District Shooting Sports Contest on Saturday, April 28, in which members from On Target of Kittitas County also participated.
Three shooting sports disciplines; archery, rifle and muzzleloader were represented in the day long competition, with two contests included in each discipline. A slight wind did not deter or discourage contestants. But rather, they took new friendships to the sky with kite flying the nearby field during discipline breaks.
At the end of the day, with targets marred by well placed aim, new friends look forward to the State 4-H Shooting Sports Contest to be held Saturday, June 2 in Dayton. Watch for state contest information coming to county offices.
