4-H Million Trees Invitation
--Pat BoyEs

The 4-H Million Trees Project would like to inform you about the project and the critical role that we hope you will play in establishing a national network of 4-H clubs and units (e.g. 4-H Afterschool, Military 4-H, 4-H Co-curricular programs, etc.).   Please direct this message to the youth and adult leaders of the 4-H clubs and units in your counties.

letter

The 4-H Million Trees project is supported at the highest national level and a Memorandum Of Understanding with the Arbor Day Foundation has been approved and signed by Dr. Cathann Kress, Director, Youth Development, National 4-H Headquarters. Dr. Kress will post a USDA press release at http://www.csrees.usda.gov/newsroom/newsroom.html to announce this partnership.

Thank you very much for helping us to establish a national network that will allow us to meet our goal of planting 1,000,000 trees to beautify our land and combat global climate change.

Washington State Conference Room at the National 4-H Center
--Pat BoyEs

The National 4-H Youth Conference Center takes great pride in running a modern, safe and affordable learning environment for the 4-H movement, as well as other youth development and nonprofit organizations.  It's exciting to know that the continued success of the Center means new resources and benefits to the 4-H movement as a whole!

The Center is increasingly sold out and this year 17% of the customers are from 4-H.  More importantly the conference rooms are being used heavily, and are being remodeled more frequently than anticipated. Conference clients almost always remove photos from the walls during their use.  Based on this use, client need and 4-H Council's desire to drive more revenue to 4-H,  the 4-H Center  will no longer put pictures on the walls of conference rooms. In the spirit of Washington we will provide a state flag and seal. The 4-H Center is considering using some appropriate art in the hall outside our room.

The National 4-H Center will be returning our unused Washington art pieces to me in the next few months as their redecoration progresses.  In the near future I expect to receive a detailed list of the artwork, photos and other items currently located in our state conference room. As soon as I receive that list, I'll share it with you all because many of the items in the Washington room have come as direct donations from your county or from the Washington 4-H Foundation or from the Washington 4-H Association.  Some of these items might be appropriate for display in your offices or perhaps in the conference room at the State 4-H Office.

Please alert me if you know of any particular donations that were made by your program or local donor.
