Attention Boer Goat Owners!
--Susan Kerr

The 4th annual Red, White and Boer Show will be held in Stevenson, WA on June 28-29. Copper Creek Boers and White House Goats will host three ABGA open shows. Two shows will be held on Saturday and one on Sunday. We have hired judges known for speed and have room for over 200 goats. Our plans include the traditional Friday night goat BBQ dinner for those early arrivers plus a goat chili cook-off contest, which we can judge, then eat! We will have our great silent auction and raffle filled with items like does, free breedings to a great buck, and maybe a kidding box or two; winners to be determined on Sunday.

Sunday will be the special day for the Youth Show! The CBGA will be giving out over $2000 in cash and prizes. The youth show will have its own ring and judge, Joe Teel from Oklahoma. He raises market goats and his children compete in 4-H with market goats. We're glad to have his expertise for our youth show judge. There will be three divisions of market classes, with at least 11 weight classes. There will be room for everyone, with many, many winners. We will also have free Showmanship classes and prizes for youth from preschool age to 19 with prizes. The poster contest was terrific last year and we are having it again this year. There will be a coloring contest for the peewees and drawing contest for the novice-aged kids.

Come join us for the whole weekend. Youth are welcome to show in the open show, but no adults can show in the youth show. The youth file is large and available on the CBGA web site at www.cascadebga.org.

National Youth Traffic Safety Month starts next week! Spread the word and register your project!
--Submitted by Pat BoyEs

National Youth Traffic Safety Month addresses the number one cause of death for youth in our nation.  Every year over 6,000 youth die in traffic related crashes.  Many of these crashes are caused by avoidable behavior.  Youth can take specific actions to be safer as drivers and passengers. National Youth Traffic Safety Month is also a time to celebrate and promote those who work to help keep youth safe on the roads.  Youth will be participating in activities to thank and support those working so hard to protect them.

Would you like to receive a $1,000 award for your efforts to reduce teen driving crashes in your community?  Start working now on plans for this year!

National Organizations for Youth Safety has once again designated May as National Youth Traffic Safety Month because it is an important time for teens to be focused on driving safety. To support National Youth Traffic Safety Month and as an incentive, Allstate Foundation is awarding $1,000 to 50 local youth organizations for their youth-developed and implemented projects that demonstrate a strong focus geared towards youth traffic safety.  With prom, graduation, and summer trips just ahead, youth-led teams can work together with Allstate Foundation and National Organizations for Youth Safety to decrease the number of traffic-related deaths and injuries that involve young drivers and passengers.

For more information on how YOU can be involved, visit the NYTSM Web site .http://www.noys.org/YouthTrafSafe/toolkit.html.
