Eastside County Teen Representative Training postponed

The Eastside County Teen Representative Training for this Saturday, January 10 has been postponed due to a lack of participants and conditions the weather is providing. As soon as a new date is finalized, information will be released to Tuesday News.

The Westside training for January 19 is still on. There are over 20 participants registered.

The National Learning Priorities is proud to offer a Webinar focused on the 4-H PRKC core competency of Organizational Systems/Scholarship entitled Understanding our Field of Youth Development and Implications for the Future.

The Webinar will be broadcast on January 8, 2009 at 2-3:30pm ET (1-2:30pm CT; noon-1:30pm MT; 11:00an-12:30pm PT respectively).

Keynote speaker is Dr. Dale Blyth, Associate Dean for Youth Development at the University of Minnesota and Director of the Extension Center for Youth Development. Dale will share his perspective of the field of Youth Development as it has developed and project some implications for the growth of the field into the future.

Dr. Lynne Borden, Extension Specialist, Professor at University of Arizona, will serve as host for a noted panel of Youth Development Practitioners and Scholars including:

Shotgun Shooting Sports Training

The Spokane County 4-H and Shooting Sports Program is sponsoring a winter Eastside training for those interested in becoming Shotgun Shooting Sports Leaders. The program will begin Friday, January 30, at 6:00 pm and will end on Sunday, February 1, at noon. This program will be taught by national shooting sports trainer Mel Finnel. All participants will receive CDs of the recently revised curriculum and corresponding PowerPoints (created by Mel) upon successful completion of the program.

National Youth Horse Leaders Symposium

Are all you horse-lovers ready to learn more about horses? Well then this is the thing for you! The symposium will bring together industry professionals, educational leaders and veterinarians to present topics and expand the knowledge of leaders of youth horse programs. Registrations must be postmarked by February 27, 2009 for the early bird discount. Pre-registration ends March 20, 2009. After that date, you can register on-site for an additional $25 fee.

The early bird price for non AYHC Members is $110 and $90 for AYHC members. Full price is $120 for non members and $110 for members. Teen Leaders (14-19) are also welcome to come at a slightly less fee.
