Judy Rogers, Chair of the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees, presents an Outstanding Service Award to Chuck Todd for his decades of service to WSU Extension 4-H.

King County Volunteer Chuck Todd Received Honor for Long-Time Service

He’s been a mentor, chaperone and organized scores of youth events throughout Washington State. Longtime 4-H advisor Chuck Todd was recently honored for 31 years of service to the WSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program.

“Chuck Todd has been and is a pillar of the WSU 4-H Program statewide,” said Pat BoyEs, Director, WSU Extension 4-H Youth Development. “He has been instrumental in developing the leadership and citizenship skills of hundreds of young people.”
Todd, of Auburn, received the Outstanding Service Award for his philanthropy and volunteer service at the WSU Foundation’s annual meeting in Pullman in early September. Todd also co-authored the first nationally juried and published 4-H computer curriculum.

“The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) workshops have been especially important,” said Todd who has co-facilitated sessions for more than five years with WSU Extension 4-H educator Janet Edwards. “These hands-on workshops helped raise the interest level in youth in the STEM fields which impact the technological success of our state and nation.”
Other volunteers receiving the 2012 honor were Lorie J. Dankers of Bellevue and Jim McFerson, Ph.D. of Wenatchee. Jay F. Brunner, Ph.D. of Wenatchee received a Faculty/Staff Outstanding Service Award.

Each year through its Outstanding Service Awards, the WSU Foundation recognizes people who inspire the wider university community through their exemplary service. Through their support, they help to advance The Campaign for Washington State University: Because the World Needs Big Ideas – a $1 billion comprehensive fundraising effort that will increase support for WSU's students, faculty, research, and outreach programs worldwide.
