4-H News Around the State

4-H Enrollments Show Impressive Rise

Youth from Washington State are taking part in 4-H in dramatic numbers.

In a report just released enrollment rose by over 7,900 youth for a total of 87, 588 young people involved in WSU Extension 4-H.  The figures represent youth involved in traditional programs as well as community, in-school and after-school and military 4-H clubs.

Pat BoyEs, Director of WSU Extension 4-H Youth Development, attributes the increase to several factors. “4-H offers such diverse programming and reaches youth who are interested in a wide range of activities,” said BoyEs.  “Our volunteers and staff put in tremendous energy to ensure our young people are provided with exceptional hands on learning opportunities, community involvement, and help prepare them for the future.”

The 4-H Military Clubs are now serving over 1,500 youth in counties across the state.

4-H programs include robotics, performing arts, health and fitness, animal science, citizenship, environmental stewardship, engineering and technology, and family living.
