WSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program

How long have you been at the county office?
Three and a half years.

Where did you grow up?
Grays Harbor

Favorite activities/interests:
Exploring the outdoors with my dogs.

What was your 4-H experience?
I took part in dog care and training, creative arts, and public presentations.

How did your time in 4-H help you over the years?
In addition to improving my skills at public speaking and working with dogs, (both of which I continue using today) I am still closely connected with my club leader, who is a mentor and friend that I can rely on for advice, humor, and a listening ear.

What do you enjoy most about working in 4-H?
Being able to work with adults who are excited about making a positive impact in the future of the young people in our community!

How have you seen 4-H help youth as they develop and grow?
The youth members are able to be more resilient when some aspect of their life changes course.  They know that they can rely on the additional support network created by the caring adult mentors and other youth in their group.  Through the 4-H youth development program, adult volunteers are able to build an environment where the youth are having fun learning while their needs for belonging, independence, generosity, and mastery are all being met!
